In 2009 I got involved in my first real, freelance, design project. I was asked to design a measuring cup for a Dutch company which produces sustainable fertilizers (www.plagron.nl). They had some new plans to start a new product range of biological fertilizers and therefore needed a new product appearance. There was already a bottle and only needed a measuring cup that could be placed on the top of the bottle. Although it was a quite basic and short design process. It was very useful for me to work for real clients, discuss designs with them and be closely involved in the production process of a product. My process resulted in three concepts. Every design was focused to create a cup that would make it easy to measure small amounts of this liquid fertilizer. It should be possible to measure precisely 1-5ml. and at the same time make it possible to use larger doses 5-25ml. Eventually it ended in a very clean cup. This product is currently available at several large retailers spread over the BeNeLux.
